Who We Are
Cohen Workshop is the studio of a working sculptor based in Nelson, New Zealand — a place where raw steel, copper, and aluminium are cut, bent, torched, and polished into pieces that carry the weight of the maker's hands.
Every sculpture begins as an idea sketched on paper, then lives through grinding sparks, blue flame, and the patient shaping of metal until it becomes something unmistakably itself. No two pieces are identical. No shortcuts are taken.
Whether it's a large-scale work for a garden or a limited-edition piece for your living room, the same obsessive craft goes into every centimetre of metal.
"Every cut is a commitment. Every weld is a permanent decision. That's what makes metal honest."

The Work
The Process

The Studio
Nestled in Nelson, New Zealand, the Cohen Workshop is a working studio — not a showroom. It's a place where metal is cut, bent, ground, torched, and transformed daily. The smell of hot steel and the sound of grinding are part of the work.
Every tool has its purpose. Every process has been refined over years of practice. The studio exists to produce work of the highest quality, and every detail — from the initial sketch to the final polish — reflects that commitment.
Metal sculpture is not fragile art. It's meant to stand in a garden through thirty years of weather, or dominate a hallway for generations. Cohen Workshop builds pieces that outlast trends, outlast movements, and outlast us. That's the point.
The sculpture Cohen created for our garden has become the centrepiece of the entire space. Every person who visits asks about it first. It's one of those rare things that makes a place feel truly complete.
